The Church of San Giovanni Battista, or Saint John the Baptist, dates back to the 13th century and was built on a pre-existing early Christian building. The facade of the church is characterized by a rose window framed by two mullioned windows above the portal with sculptural decorations in relief, including a figure piercing a dragon with a spear: it is probably San Feliciano, patron of Foligno. The interior is in Romanesque style and has a single nave and a raised presbytery with finely decorated altar and ciborium. Under the presbytery there is the crypt, which is the oldest part of the church, divided into three naves lined with reused columns. The Roman city center known as the Forum Flaminii, must have been located where the church now stands, founded in 220 BC when the Flaminian Way was inaugurated: here the western and eastern branches of the street rejoined. Of this important ancient roman forum, which is also contained in the etymology of the word "Profiamma", only one structure has been uncovered: a vast thermal bath complex located near the church.
