Fountain fountain of the Park of the “canapè” – Divina Foligno Skip to main content
In 1933 Nicola Brunelli signed the design for a monumental fountain to be located in Piazza della Repubblica, once Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. The work was carried by the stonescutters Stramaccia e C. and by the decorator E. Federici. The elliptical fountain, with a mask of a triton that pours water from its mouth in the center, also has two lateral nozzles that represent the rudders of a ship. The original location created inconveniences for citizens, as the water, displaces by the wind that still blows in the square, made walking dangerous in winter and wet passers-by. For these reasons, a few years later, the Municipal administration decided to place the fountain in the Parco dei Canapè.
