32. The Orfini Gardens – Divina Foligno Skip to main content
Before being owned by the Orfini family, the gardens belonged to the Elmi and Vitelleschi families, and they have just recently been reclaimed as public gardens. The entrance gate dates to the early sixteenth century. On the southern side, near the bridge, there is a very elegant wing overlooking the Molini canal. This is where once stood an ancient Roman stone base engraved with a dedication to Publio Elio Marcello, protector of the "Forum Flaminii" and og "Fulginea". The inscription is very important for local history as it is the first time that the name 'Foligno' appears in writing. Today the monument is kept in the city museum.
