59. Monument to Giuseppe Piermarini – “Hercules” – Divina Foligno Skip to main content
The square renovated on the project by Luciano Piermarini is dedicated to the famous architect from Foligno, Giuseppe Piermarini (1734-1808), imperial royal architect and author of masterpieces such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Royal Palace of Monza. He is celebrated and represented in the bronze sculpture by Czech artist Ivan Theimer, depicting Hercules symbolically supporting time and history, which are represented as an obelisk testing the hero's strength.
