Piazza del Grano, once called Piazza delle Logge due to the presence of a loggia inside, hosted the old city market and it is divided from Piazza della Repubblica by the 'backstage' composed of the building nucleus of Palazzo Trinci. It is formerly known as the ‘platea nova', as opposed to the 'platea veteris' of Piazza della Repubblica. Between the new buildings, we can find the municipal library, named after Dante Alighieri.
