The Colfiorito Swamp is one of the wetlands of greatest naturalistic interest, not only at a regional level - but also nationally and internationally - so much so that it has been declared a World Heritage Site by the Ramsar Convention. Because of the biodiversity that characterizes the swamp, with particular reference to the numerous species of birds that frequent it, this area has also been identified as a Special Conservation Area and Special Protection Area of the Natura 2000 Network. Natura 2000 is an ecological network formed by more or less large areas, both terrestrial and marine, spread throughout the territory of the European Union, and having a particular naturalistic interest. The reeds are the dominant element of the swamp: they offer shelter and refuge to 154 species of birds, including nesting, wintering and migratory birds, many of which are rare and threatened. To the east of the swamp is the "Molinaccio" sinkhole, with the adjoining Casa del "Mollaro". It takes its name from the production facility built in the 1600s to take advantage of the water jump.
