The summit meadows – Divina Foligno Skip to main content
The summits of the Foligno mountains are characterized by the presence of secondary grasslands covering large open areas of anthropogenic origin. In the past the mountain was widely used for agricultural and pastoral activities, with consequent removal of the arboreal and shrub vegetation to make room for fields and pastures. Today, with the abandonment of such activities, the meadows are slowly giving way to the advance of shrub vegetation followed by the arboreal vegetation, resulting in a significant loss of the biodiversity characterizing the mountainous open areas.
