The first testimonies on the celebrations for the Carnival in S. Eraclio date back to the 16th century, but "The Carnival of the boys", the event in today's format, was born in 1960 on the initiative of the parish priest Monsignor Luciano Raponi.
The event takes place every year between the months of February and March.
The papier-mâché floats are the soul of the event and parade through the streets of the town inviting the public to laugh and joke with the masks that are part of it. There are also jugglers, waders, fire eaters and masked groups. An essential meeting point for party participants is the Osteria del Carnevale, a convivial place where simple and wholesome food can be consumed.
The parade of allegorical floats is framed by numerous events organized even outside the confines of Sant’Eraclio: carnival-themed exhibitions, dance shows, musical performances, games and entertainment for the little ones.
