Belfiore is located at an altitude of 298 meters, in the heart of the lower Vally of the Menotre river. The river runs alongside the village and originates near the town of Rasiglia, running for about 30 km before meeting the Topino river near Scanzano. In Pale, near Belfiore, the river meets various jumps, creating the famous waterfalls.
The road that reaches the village and today part of the main local cultural itineraries, is of very ancient origin: it is the road to Colfiorito, later called "Lauretana" because it was traveled by pilgrims who were directed to the Marian sanctuary of Loreto.
The town, known by its current name from the 16th century on, was founded when the residents of Fragnano, a mountain village attested since 1085, moved down into the valley. According to some, however, it is the evolution of an ancient Roman settlement, whose name later changed.
Among the main buildings of Belfiore there is the Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption, dated 1683, the Church of San Nicolò de Bello Flore, attested since 1138, and the ancient paper mills.
